Third Edition of the Monastic Products Fair Returns to Grasse . .

The Monastic Products Fair in Grasse is back for its third edition on November 30 and December 1, 2024, at Espace Chiris. Organized by the Saint-Honorat Parish, the fair has grown into a vibrant event that bridges the gap between monasteries and the broader community.

Pauline Charabot, a dedicated volunteer, shares the vision behind the event: “We wanted to revitalize an aging concept while showing that we are committed Christians—joyfully so!” She emphasizes the goal of attracting a diverse audience to foster connections with monastic life. Marilou Mencaraglia, the parish secretary, adds, “This is a rare opportunity for people to meet monks and nuns, as not everyone feels comfortable stepping into a monastery.”

A Growing and Anticipated Event . .

The fair has seen increasing popularity over the years. “The visitor profile has been very diverse,” notes Marilou, with monks and nuns also expressing enthusiasm for the event as a chance to connect with others. From its modest start with 10 participating monasteries, the fair has expanded to 17, drawing 600 visitors in its first year and promising even greater attendance this time around. The municipality of Grasse has embraced the fair, partnering with the parish to support its growing success.

Unique Gifts for the Whole Family . .

Visitors can look forward to a wide array of monastic products, including jewelry, wines, spirits, honey, candles, santons, and porcelain. This year, the Notre-Dame des Neiges Abbey joins the lineup, showcasing even more unique crafts. “The variety of products reflects the incredible talent of the men and women of faith who create them to sustain their monasteries,” Pauline and Marilou explain.

Whether you’re seeking special gifts or simply want to explore the rich heritage of monastic craftsmanship, the Monastic Products Fair is an event not to be missed.
